Panama Blepharoplasty - Panama Eyelid Surgery
The signs of aging can be easily seen in and around the eyes. The eyebrows will sag. Bags or dark circles form beneath the eyes. The upper lids begin to droop. Any one or all of these aging symptoms can make you self conscious. Blepharoplasty, or eye lid surgery, is a simple out patient procedure that can correct these issues.

Upon arrival at Hospital Punta Pacifica Panama for your Blepharoplasty, you can expect all the expertise and comfort of a world class hospital with higly trained Panama plastic surgeons. Your doctor will ask questions relating to your medical history and perform a routine, complete physical examination. You will discuss your expectations of the surgery in Panama with your doctor and pictures will be taken of your eyes.

The eyelid surgery itself can last from one to three hours depending how much tissue is being operated upon. A local anesthesia is administered to numb the area and an IV drip is used to allow for comfort and relaxation. In some circumstances, a patient may be put under with the use of general anesthesia.

To correct a sagging brow and drooping upper lid, the surgeon makes an incision along the natural crease of the upper lid. The surgeon then removes any excess skin and fat in and around the upper lid, along with some muscle. Small stitches are used to close the incision in order to avoid any scarring. If you are correcting any lower lid issues (circles or bags under the eye) the surgeon will then make an incision either in the natural crease where your lower eyelashes touch or inside the lower lid itself. Sagging skin, excess fat and muscle are removed. The incision is then closed utilizing the same small stitching method to promote virtually invisible scars.

If you are staying in Panama following your Blepharoplasty, be sure to protect your rejuvenated eyelid skin from the tropical sun. Exposure to sunlight may cause permanent discoloration. For about a week after your surgery you want to avoid heavy lifting or any other strenuous activities including exercise. Keep your head raised higher than your chest while sleeping and avoid any sudden or extreme neck movements. You can expect swelling and bruising around your eyes for a week or more following the surgery.

Your surgeon may suggest cold compresses in order to control swelling. You will be taught how to clean in and around your eyes. Your surgeon will also prescribe eye drops to control any dryness or irritation.

As with any surgery, there are risks that go along with Blepharoplasty. You may experience dry or irritated eyes. The skin on your eyelids may become temporarily numb. Scarring and/or a slight impairment of eyelid function may occur. In very rare cases, there could be a small risk of blindness due to bleeding behind the eye. Within several weeks of your Panama Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasy), you will recognize a vast difference in your appearance. Your younger look will ensure your confidence and start you on the path to a rejuvenated life.
