Cheek Augmentation Panama
Panama Cheek Augmentation
Diet and exercise can help you to lose weight and tone your body. However, diet and exercise can not do all that much to help with the genetic make-up of your facial structure. If you were born with sunken, sallow cheek bones and are acutely aware of the detrimental effect they have on your self-esteem, a Panama Cheek Augmentation may be right for you.
A medical tourism cheek augmentation takes between 45 minutes to an hour and is generally performed under local anesthesia and IV sedation. Prior to your surgery, your doctor will set up a consultation where he will ask you questions regarding your medical history and any medications you might be taking. You will discuss the procedure and results you wish to attain. If you smoke, you will be asked to not smoke in the weeks prior to surgery. You will also be asked to refrain from taking aspirin or any other anti-inflammatory drug as they thin the blood and can cause an increase in bleeding.
The procedure itself is fairly simple and consists of an incision on the inside of your mouth where the upper lip meets the gums. Your American-trained surgeon will then place solid, soft implants up through the incision in to your cheek area. The size and make-up of the implant will be discussed with your doctor prior to the operation. After the implants are placed, the incision is closed with absorbable sutures that do not need to be removed.
If you choose to stay in Panama on medical vacation, you will be prescribed pain medication for any discomfort you may feel. It is entirely normal to experience swelling for two to three weeks following your cheek augmentation. In order to keep the swelling to a minimum, your doctor may recommend you keep your head constantly elevated and frequently apply ice to the site of the implants. You can return to work in two to five days depending how comfortable you are with your appearance. You can resume an exercise routine two weeks following the augmentation and you will see the final, permanent results between one and two months of your Panama cheek surgery.
Major complications are rare with cheek implants, but as with all surgery, there is some element of risk. Some of these risks include bone erosion, implant asymmetry, infection, hematoma and implant displacement. Corrective surgery may be needed in the case of implant asymmetry or displacement.
If you’re thinking of undergoing cheek augmentation, come to Punta Pacifica Hospital, affiliated with Johns Hopkins Medical International, in Panama. American trained surgeons will consult with you regarding your every need and two months following your cheek implants, you will have a stronger profile, a better body image and a better out look on life.
