Panama Chin Augmentation
In a time when good looks are becoming more and more important not only in our personal lives, but our professional lives as well, having a strong chin is no longer a feature solely reserved for boxers. Men and women of class and distinction in the world of politics, business and entertainment often have a solid jaw-line rounded out by a pronounced chin. This facial feature not only gives off the air of confidence, but allows the possessor of such a feature actual confidence. Whether youíre a man or woman, a weak chin can effect both your self esteem and your life. In this age of medical technology, there is hope. A Panama Chin Augmentation (Mentoplasty) can turn your weak chin in to the distinct, strong chin of the fortune 500 businessman, the presidential candidate and the movie star.

A medical vacation chin augmentation is an outpatient surgery that can last between thirty minutes to an hour-and-a-half depending upon the size and placement of an implant. The procedure can be done under general anesthetic or local anesthesia, with a sedative at your and your American trained surgeonís discretion. Before your chin augmentation, your surgeon will meet with you to discuss a few matters.

Along with discussing your medical history and any medications you may be taking, your surgeon will speak candidly with you regarding your expectations and the desired shape and size of your chin. Photos will be taken of your face and chin for your medical file and you will be given pre-surgery instructions.

If you smoke, you will be asked to stop in the weeks prior to your Panama chin augmentation. You will also be asked to refrain from taking aspirin or any other anti-inflammatory drug as they thin the blood and can cause an increase in bleeding.

There are two incision sites associated with chin augmentation. One can be made underneath the chin along the natural curve of the jaw-line. The other can be made inside your mouth where your lower lip attaches to your gums. Your surgeon will opt for one or the other. The operation itself is quite simple: The incision is made, your surgeon creates a pocket for the chin implant and inserts the implant into the pocket on top of your existing chin bone. The implant can be attached to the bone either with sutures or titanium surgical screws. The incision is then sutured shut. Bandaging and tape are then placed over the operation site to minimize swelling and to ensue the implant does not shift.

If you choose to stay in Panama following your Mentoplasty, be sure to have a blender and/or plenty of milkshakes around as your surgeon may place you on a dietary restriction. Swelling and bruising are common following surgery and will generally fade within a couple weeks. Common pain medication can be prescribed to minimize any discomfort. A brace may also be prescribed to aid in implant protection during sleep. You can be back to work within five to seven days depending upon your comfort with your look.

As with all surgeries, there are risks involved with Chin Augmentation. Implant shifting, infection, and asymmetry can all occur. On rare occasions, blood clots and numbness due to nerve damage may develop.
